WP8 Objectives
Civic cultures and identities across Europe. Differences in attitudes to citizenship rights and in opinions to ethnic minorities, European integration, European citizenship etc... How these differences in Europe have impact on social cohesion. This will be done by
- Examining the public perceptions of citizenship while analyzing different national identities and stereotypes in the EU and accession countries;
- Analyzing how the civic cultures influence the sources, patterns and dynamic of changes in the perception of civic participation in the process of EU integration and how it is expressed through national identity.
WP8 Description of work
- National coordinators develop research strategy and a theoretical framework for studying citizenship, civic culture and national identity.
- National teams analyse the relationship between citizenship, civic culture and national identity based on secondary analyses of EVS, ESS, ISSP and WVS
- Individual scholars and international teams produce publications (focusing on the comparative analysis).
