WP50 Objectives

The aim of this WP is to create future cooperation between the CINEFOGO Network and scientific scholars from universities in the Middle East countries.

Different types of cooperation are under scrutiny. Primarily, however, the cooperation should be focussed on themes closely related to ‘social participation, democratisation and organised civil society’ centred around topics which are the core themes of the CINEFOGO network:

• Active citizenship: to promote citizens’ involvement in policy-making
• Organised civil society: to understand the impact of different forms of citizenship and civic participation
• Multiple identities: to identify and develop factors that help co-existence among different social groups

The WP is a concretisation and continuation of the activities which have taken place within related WPs such as WP37 (EU Aid Policy, Civil Society North and South) and WP43 (Learning between North and South)

WP50 Description of work

The work will start with a planning meeting of with a preparatory discussion of the setting and themes for a workshop in October and November 2007 (month 25-26) including representatives from Roskilde University and middle east Universities
An invitation will be send to a selected number of Middle East Universities in December 2007 (month 27)
The workshop will be organised in January 2008 (month 28) with a restricted number of participants (about 15 persons)
