WP47 Objectives
- To draw upon a range of theoretical and methodological perspectives in order to examine the meaning that citizenship and participation actually has in people’s live and the ways in which people’s social and cultural backgrounds and material circumstances affect their lives as citizens
- To explore how different European welfare systems are managing cultural diversity and social integration in the context of globalisation and European Enlargement .
- To provide policy makers and representatives of Organised Civil Society (OCS) with instruments and tools for managing cultural diversity as a key element in citizenship and sustainable development
WP47 Description of work
The work will start with a planning meeting of with a preparatory meeting in late February (month 29) at University College of London where representative from the two network are planning the seminar and its themes – call for papers, invitation to members of the two networks and joint activities.
An invitation will be distributed in March 2008 (month 30) and a minor groups of scholars from outside the two network will be invited
The Seminar will be organised in October 2008 (month 37) with a restricted number of participants (about 15 persons)
