DESCRIPTION:In recent years cross-national research on citizen partici
 pation in associational and political life has taken a flight. In Euro
 pe\, especially the European Social Survey (ESS) is an often used\, la
 rge-scale survey on social and political participation\, but several o
 ther surveys also try to capture participation in a similar way\, such
  as Citizenship\, Involvement and Democracy (CID)\, European Value Stu
 dies (EVS)\, Eurobarometer\, and the International Social Survey Progr
 amme (ISSP).
