On 17-18 December 2007 a conference took place in Milan (Italy) on Immigrants in the health-care system: the connection among migrants and health-care systems in different European Countries. On 25-26 January 2008 a conference will take place in Brussels (Belgium) on The Governance of the European Union: Theories, practices and myths. The conference is organized in cooperation between the Department of Sociology and Social Research of the University of Trento (Italy), and Institute for Social Research ISF of Oslo (Norway). On 15-16 February 2008 an international conference will take place in Paris with scholars and policymakers. The conference topic is The Changing Faces of Security and Social Protection, and their Impact on Citizenship. The activity is a cooperation project between University of Paris/Sorbonne (France), Justus Liebig University Giessen (Germany) and Charles University Prague (Czech Republic). A conference titled Between State and Citizens - The Role of Civic Elements in the Governance and Production of Social Services will take place 6-8 March 2008 in Ljubliana (Slovenia). The conference is organized in cooperation between Justus Liebig University Giessen (Germany) and Faculty of Social Sciences at University of Ljubljana. On 13-14 March 2008 an international conference will be held in London (UK). The theme is European Development Aid and NGOs: Changing Notions of Civil Society in ‘North’ and ‘South’. The conference target group consists of scholars, NGOs and policy makers. The conference is organized by Centre for Civil Society at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and will be chaired by professor Jude Howell. On 18-19 April 2008 an international conference will be held at the Justus Liebig University, Giessen (Germany). The theme is Third Sector Organizations facing turbulent environments: the impact of commerzialisation on organizational legitimacy and the quality of services. The core group of the conference consists of academic scholars that have been invited by the organizers for a contribution. However the meeting is basically open for academic colleagues interested in the topic. An International Conference on Civil Society will be held on 8-10 May 2008 in Grythyttan Inn (Sweden). The theme is Normative Implications of New Forms of Participation for Democratic Policy Processes, and the conference is organized and funded by Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation, Örebro University (Sweden) and CINEFOGO. On 22-25 May 2008 a seminar will be held Kaunas (Lithuania). The annual meeting for the PhD Network on the Third Sector and Civil Society will for the first time be organised in Central and Eastern Europe.
