The Bulgarian European Community Studies Association (BECSA) is a non-profit non-governmental organization that unites academics and professionals in addressing European integration and co-operation. It undertakes research on theoretical and policy-oriented problems of EU development and reform, on its enlargement, and on relationships between EU integration and societal transformation in Europe and in Bulgaria. BECSA disseminates information and supports education, training and awareness-raising about political, economic, legal and other aspects of the EU, about European integration and co-operation. It targets both the wider public and specific academic, cultural, political or professional circles in Bulgaria.
BECSA research activities address European integration and multiple identities, the impact of EU instruments on civil society building in the country, the relevance of multi-level governance issues for the domestic political process, etc. These questions have been addressed the publication series entitled “We in the European debate” and in “Bulletin Evropa” a bi-monthly journal in Bulgarian by BECSA.
