The New Europe Centre for Regional Studies (NEC) is a private non-profit research institute that is registered with the National Statistical Institution in Bulgaria. The Centre conducts research and consultations related to social, political and economic changes in Bulgaria and in South Eastern Europe. Undertaking both quantitative and qualitative studies at the local, regional and European level, the Centre provides expertise to national and European bodies in the fields of social policy, business, economics, politics and demography. 

The Centre has co-ordinated various international projects such as Public Attitudes to Volunteering and Research  and Households, Work and Flexibility supported by the Fifth Framework Programme of the European Commission. Moreover, it has co-ordinated some international projects on social capital, which were supported by international and regional entities, such as the European Commission.
