The Department of Social Studies and Organization, Aalborg, Denmark
The Department of Social Studies and Organization at Aalborg University comprises about 40 researchers who in their work address social work and social change; work life, qualification and organisation; everyday life and social structure; and rights and legal protection.
The researchers represent the disciplines of Sociology, Social Work, Law, Political Science and Economy. They participate both in national and international research as well as in teaching networks, such as The Johns Hopkins Comparative Non-Profit Sector Project and the European Value Study network. Recent research initiatives include projects on Contemporary patterns of differentiation and the creation of a unit on “socio-demographic research”.
The Department offers a Ph.D. programme in “Social integration and differentiation” and it contributes to a cross-disciplinary Ph.D. school in “Welfare and Difference”. It is responsible for a full sociology programme that includes a Bachelor's Degree (BA) and a Master's degree (MA), as well as a Bachelor Programme and an Open University programme on social work.
