Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars Fellowships 2009-2010
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is announcing the opening of its 2009-2010 Fellowship competition. The Center awards aproximately 20-25 academic year residential fellowships to individuals from any country with outstanding project proposal on national and/or international issues.

Chair in Political and Social Sciences
The Department of Political and Social Sciences invites applications from candidates engaged in comparative research in the political and social sciences. The Department is open to applications in a wide range of themes dealing with contemporary Europe, ranging from research on ethnonational conflicts to research on the transformation of institutional structures. The Department is particularly interested in candidates who combine research on European and state institutions. Junior as well as senior candidates will be considered.
Chair in Sociology and Social Research
The Department of Political and Social Sciences invites applications from candidates engaged in advanced comparative sociological research in substantive fields such as inequality, welfare, migration, population, organizations, or networks. Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate teaching capacity in quantitative methods. Junior as well as senior candidates will be considered.
PhD Training Course: Organisations, development and religion
Ph.D. course on Organisations, development and religion will be held on 17th and 18th December 2008 at University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Ph.D. students who wish to participate are welcome to submit their papers. Main topics include: The analysis of religious organisations and institutions; Social movement theory and religious activism; Religion as social capital; Religious ideas in relation to social action

PhD Course: Approaching Organisations
The Ph.D. course will deal with the analytical and methodological challenges faced in studying the nature and role of organizations in development. The course proposes to explore a broad range of organizations from the international level, such as the World Bank, to the national level, such as a government ministry or a large NGO, and down to the local levels of small NGOs, associations and local government departments and agencies. The course will combine lectures from leading international experts in the field of organizations in development, and workshops in which Ph.D. students attending the course present their research projects.
FIT08 Advanced Training Course
FIT is a training course aimed at transforming experienced leaders into outstanding ones by building solid confidence based on self-awareness, relevant knowledge, practical skills and power attitudes. Organised for the first time in 2004, FIT’s concept is unique in the field of European youth training, as it combines facilitation and training with individual and group leadership training.
The Social Enterprise World Forum
CEiS organises the inaugural Social Enterprise World Forum in Edinburgh, Scotland from September 2nd to 5th 2008. The Forum will be the first international gathering of practitioners and support agencies dealing exclusively with social enterprise and will bring together social enterprise leaders and champions from all continents to collaborate, share best practice and plan future developments. This collaboration will raise awareness of social enterprise as an expanding global mechanism for social change and will explore the merit of ongoing collaboration for key stakeholders.
Call for papers: WP20 Midterm Workshop on Social Movements
The European Sociological Association and the Cinefogo NoE call for papers for its ESA RN Social Movements Mid-Term Workshop that will take place in Trento (Italy) 10-11 October 2008. Participation will be limited to a maximum of 15 paper givers in order to allow enough space for discussion. Deadline for abstract submission: 5 July 2008
LGI Policy Fellowships: Call for proposals
Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative (LGI) calls for proposal for its policy fellowhisp programme for 2008/2009. The primary goal of the LGI Policy Fellowship program is to support policy research aimed at stimulating innovative and practical policy reform in areas that LGI is interested in exploring further. Each year broad topics are identified for candidates from different country groups. LGI is currently calling for Fellows for its 2008/2009 program, which will run from October 2008 to October 2009.
