New RECON partners

The selection of two new partners from July 2008 is announced: The Institute for European Integration Research at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the Europe Institute at the University of Auckland.
RECON will also extend to a third, affiliated partner: Mannheim Centre for European Social Research at the University of Mannheim, which is presented in this newsletter.

Policy memo on Turkey and the EU

Meltem Müftüler-Bac discusses the role of the European Union's political conditionality in Turkish domestic political change.

Gender, justice and democracy

Yvonne Galligan and Sara Clavero have developed gender equality indicators for a democratic audit that is to be conducted under the direction of Christopher Lord in the RECON project. The indicators will be used in an extensive assessment of the quality of gender democracy in the EU.
