OECD Capacity building seminar

Capacity building seminar on 'Enhancing the Capacity of Partnerships to Influence Policy', 18-20 April 2007, Dublin, Ireland

About the seminar

Previous activities of the OECD LEED Forum on Partnerships have demonstrated that local partnerships can bring a bottom-up dimension to the policy process, helping to ensure that national policies ‘reach the parts that other mechanisms cannot reach’. Partnerships, because of the way in which they engage many stakeholders, can facilitate cross-cutting perspectives, and thus help bridge gaps that may exist between the policies of individual agencies.

We are pleased to announce the forthcoming capacity building seminar: ‘Enhancing the Capacity of Partnerships to Influence Policy’, 18-20 April 2007, Dublin, Ireland. This 2.5-day seminar is the second stage of a capacity building programme designed for experienced partnerships from OECD member countries. After a lively first seminar in Vienna, this second meeting will allow a more in-depth discussion on how partnerships can enhance their capacity to influence policy at the local, national and international levels.

The thematic focus of this seminar will be on skills development, in particular on the contributions of partnerships in designing and delivering local skills development strategies.

This seminar addresses partnership managers and practitioners, national co-ordinators of partnerships with an experience and interest in expanding their current involvement in policy and programme design, as well as government counterparts of partnerships.

The seminar will be hosted by Pobal Ireland, a long-standing partner of the OECD LEED Programme.

Up to 16 participants will be selected on the basis of the applicant’s CV (in English) and of the duly completed partnership's questionnaire / government counterpart's questionnaire. These can be found at the web address detailed below. Please note that the deadline for applications is 16th March 2007. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application within one week.

Further information about the programme and the two questionnaires can be downloaded at http://www.oecd.org/document/33/0,2340,en_2649_33956792_38032289_1_1_1_1,00.html
