About the conference
The theme of the conference is Building and Strengthening Communities: The Social Economy
in a Changing World.
The world is undergoing rapid and extensive changes associated with globalisation, conflicting ideas about the roles of the State and the reconfiguration of communities. The Social Economy contains several approaches that could be of use to communities, social entrepreneurs, policy makers, community activities and researchers. The goal of the conference is to highlight the role of the co-operatives, foundations, credit unions, mutuals, non-profit organizations, the voluntary sector, charities and social economy enterprises in building and strengthening communities in a variety of contexts and cultures.
It is a scientific conference with researchers, senior practitioners and government officials attending.
