Non-Governmental Public Action Programme at Centre for Civil Society, London School of Economics - New Awards and New Fellowships.

New Awards for Research Projects

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Non-Governmental Public Action research programme, based at the Centre for Civil Society at the London School of Economics, is a unique opportunity to further understand the impact of non-governmental public action in reducing poverty and exclusion, and in social transformation, from an international comparative and multi-disciplinary perspective.

A large number of research projects have already been approved, but some New Awards will be offered for further research projects on the themes of accountability and legitimacy; violence, exclusion and  non-governmental public action; and faith-based groups.

Information on the new awards are published on the ESRC web-site :  http://www.esrc.ac.uk/ESRCInfoCentre/index.aspx

The ESRC NGPA programme has also set aside a sum of money to support some new Fellowships:

  • International Visiting Fellowships  - These are aimed at senior academics with recognised expertise in the area of  non-governmental public action. They will be handled by the NGPA programme (not the ESRC) and applications should be submitted by Monday 24 April 2006.
  • User Fellowships - These are designed for user groups to either reflect upon a research theme relevant to and NGPA project and user group, or to work together with a project to develop the practical applications of the research project. These fellowships will be handled by the NGPA programme (not the ESRC) and applications should be submitted by Monday 13 March 2006.
  •  Post-doctoral Fellowships - on the themes of legitimacy and accountability, faith-based organisations, civil society, exclusion and violence will also be offered.  These will be handled by the ESRC, and information are published on the ESRC web-site.

More details are on the NGPA website at:   http://www.lse.ac.uk/collections/NGPA/fellowships.htm
